




My Teaching Journey
Join me throughout my teaching practice, and on how I conducted my lessons and bonded with my students in SD Lazuardi GCS Ibnu Sina!

I would begin my lesson with a motivating activity. I occasionally allowed them to play games or dance. It is enjoyable to watch them have a good time and participate in class.

I would first introduce myself as their teacher. My name would be posted on the board. In order for them to come to know me, I would greet them in the Filipino language with something like, "Magandang umaga!" (Good morning!). Sometimes, I would also greet them in their language, like "Selamat pagi!" (Good morning!)

I would think of original ways to pique their interest in the subject. I always hope that my pupils would enjoy themselves and learn a lot. Since the sixth-grade class is quite active, I created a game where images of various food are shown on the wall. I gave them an instruction to throw the ball towards a nutritious item. I would occasionally tell them to toss a ball at an unhealthy food. They would learn which food are nutritious and which are not in this way, and they would also release a lot of energy.

I went on to the discussion after the activities. Since they already have therapists, I wouldn't need to focus as much on the students with special needs. The therapists are the ones who manage their temper tantrums. I would occasionally assist when they started to be too disruptive. Regular pupils pick things up quickly. Using my planned presentation, I would rapidly go over the lesson with them while giving them extra time to complete the workbook's questions. They would answer, and we would then verbally check them together.

I would ask them to share their thoughts after the lesson so I could make sure they remembered what I had taught them. They were all well-behaved and obedient, so managing the class was not tough for me.

​I followed the same routine when I gave my final demo lesson. Near the back of the room, I had observers. In all honesty, it was terrifying. Nevertheless, I received a good rating, and I appreciate my well-behaved and engaged pupils for that.

Finally, I completed my practicum in SD Lazuardi GCS Ibnu Sina. It was a challenging, yet thrilling experience. It is a memory that I will never forget in my lifetime. I even cried at the end of my final demo teaching because the students went up to me to give me gifts. I have never felt so appreciated. Terima kasih, my students! Terima kasih Lazuardi!
